Volunteers

Volunteers work closely with the museum trains The Museum is currently seeking volunteers in the following areas:

Depot Café staff on Sundays from 11am – 4pm
Duties include: greeting visitors, stocking items, preparing hot dogs, and register sales

Admissions staff on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am – 5pm
Duties include: greeting visitors, selling admissions, and register sales

Parlor Car Manager for our Scenic Limited trains in April Duties include: greeting visitors, scheduling volunteer train attendants, and stocking supplies. A great job for someone looking to do some work from home!

Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Duties include: maintenance and upkeep of the Western Railway Museum site

Land Manager
Someone with legal experience in real estate to help guide and manage our property and leases

General Manager
Duties include: planning, budgeting, hands-on supervision and day-to-day management of the Museum’s rail operations and restoration activities.

Every aspect of the Museum, from Conductor to Motorman to restoration specialist to archivist to museum store operations, is run by volunteers.

Be it once per week, once per month, in one of our well-established departments, or just during special events like the Pumpkin Patch each October, or the Scenic Limited trains each April, we need your help!

We provide equal opportunities for men and women. It doesn't matter if you have special skills or not; we provide all the necessary training. All you need is a willingness to cooperate with others, some spare time, and an interest in supporting the Museum’s mission to preserve and interpret the regional heritage of electric railways.
